Child Sexual Abuse

What is Sexual Abuse?

Sexual assault or abuse is an act of rape, the attempt of rape or sexually touching the body parts of a person with or without clothes without the consent of the person. Even though the legal definition of sexual assault varies in different states of the USA, yet the common part is that the sexual assault takes place one of the individuals involved in the sexual encounter doesn’t give consent for the act, is incapacitated, coerced, or is a minor.

Most of the state law recognizes that consent can be withdrawn at any time during the act. From 1993, all 50 states of the USA and District of Columbia have recognized marital rape as a crime too. While the data is overwhelming for victims that include women, and minor or adolescent boys and girls, men can be a victim too of this criminal act. If you or your loved ones have been wronged and assaulted without your consent, then our experienced Pittsburgh sexual abuse lawyer is here to help you.

Forcible Rape

Forcible rape is the act where the victim has been forced to perform a sexual act by physical means.

  • Reports show around 20% of women are forcibly raped in their lifetime.
  • More than 80% of these victims were 25 years or so of age at the time of the crime.
  • While this is a striking fact about college campuses, yet 20% of cases only get reported.

Most of the time, the accused person of the forcible rape is a dating partner, ex-lover, ex or current intimate partner, or spouse and sometimes strangers.

Child Sexual Abuse

A case of child sexual abuse happens when a minor is forced, pressured, or manipulated by an adolescent or an adult individual for sexual gratification and act. There are various forms of child sexual abuse that include:

The incidents of sexual abuse can cause excessive trauma, depression, PTSD, and anxiety disorder for all their life.
