Knee and joint injuries are extremely prevalent in the United States, and due to the importance of functioning joints, can cause a drop in ability to work or even function in a day to day setting. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health, there were approximately 6.6 million knee injuries in the United States in a ten-year period. These types of injuries are very common and can be debilitating.

There are many ways that joints can be injured including but not limited to:

  • Jarring falls
  • Prolonged use
  • Improper techniques for heavy lifting
  • Intense impact
  • Sitting in one position too long

There are many areas of work and life in which these injuries can occur. By sitting at a desk for too long without breaks to move around, lifting too many heavy things (especially with improper techniques), and by falling accidents.

Knee injuries can be very serious due to the fact that victims may not be able to walk properly and it can affect their everyday life and make them unable to work. There can be ACL and MCL injuries which often require surgery. When there is an injury of this nature due to negligence or caused in some way by a third party, justice needs to be served.

If you, a friend, or a loved one has been affected by one of these injuries, call Logue Law Group at (724) 350-8995 to talk to one of our experienced and dedicated attorneys to see what compensation you may be entitled to.

Shoulder Injuries

Shoulder injuries can also be caused by similar types of strain and accidents in the same way as knee and other joint injuries. Overuse and the use of the same motions can cause several types of shoulder pain and injury. According to the AAOS (American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons), about 7.5 million Americans visit a doctor’s office for a shoulder problem each year. Like other joints, most shoulder problems are due to muscles, ligaments, and tendons as opposed to bone.

Shoulder dislocation is a common injury that many people view as a bone problem, but over time as muscles and ligaments stretch and are overused, their elasticity decreases and therefore the joint is not held in place as firmly. These injuries can happen often and require surgery to fix the stretched out muscles and ligament.

Fractures to the arm in certain areas are considered to be shoulder injuries. This includes clavicle and humerus fractures. These types of fractures can be displaced or non-displaced. Displaced means that during the break, the bones became un-aligned and must be placed back in the proper place. Non-displaced can usually be fixed simply by casting. The vast majority of shoulder fractures are non-displaced. When a fracture is displaced, it usually requires surgical action. This can also require extensive physical therapy and a long leave from work and pain and suffering.

There are other shoulder injuries that can be found in patients which are relatively common and can cause prolonged pain and suffering:

  • Bursitis
  • Tendonitis
  • Arthritis
  • “Frozen Shoulder”
  • Traumas that cause swelling

If you, a friend, or a loved one have experienced any of these injuries and believe you are entitled to compensation, please call Logue Law Group at (724) 350-8995 to speak to an attorney in order to determine available courses of action.
