Expungement Granted for a DUI Charge
A couple of months back, we at Logue Law Group got a call from one of our Philadelphia-based clients. A college lecturer by profession, Mr. Gartner wanted an expungement for a DUI charge, as it was a matter of his long-standing reputation. He couldn’t have afforded a criminal record in his name. And since he had prior experience working with us, he decided to call our Pittsburgh DUI attorneys and ask for help.
An Overview of the Incident
It was a few months ago when Mr. Gartner received a promotion. He was an assistant lecturer and was promoted to the post of H.O.D. He was elated that day and decided to celebrate the achievement with a handful of his colleagues.
So, after work, he visited a local bar and had a little too much to drink! Although he didn’t go over the speed limit, he wasn’t moving too fast either! This caught the attention of a police officer, who asked our client to pull over and gave him a breath analyzer to test his sanity.
Thankfully, Mr. Gartner’s B.A.C levels were 0.09%, which is considered to be barely above the legal limit of 0.08% in Pennsylvania. Now, since Mr. Gartner was a first-time offender, he faced the following penalties-
- $300 fine.
- Six months’ probation.
- Attending an Alcohol Safety School.
Now, Mr. Gartner paid the fine and completed his probation, along with attending the alcohol safety school. However, his name had a criminal record, which he thought would get dropped after this.
But things didn’t turn out as he expected! He called our Pittsburgh DUI attorneys up and enquired about this scenario. When we began to cross-check, we found that Mr. Gartner still had a criminal record behind his name!
Confused and disturbed, he asked us for help, as he had no idea how to get his name off the record. On top of that, he was the H.O.D. of a college! So, he got really worried about his reputation and told us that he couldn’t afford to put that at stake.
Understanding his situation and his worries, our Pittsburgh DUI attorneys advised him to go for an expungement. And when we explained the whole thing to him, he permitted us to move for an expungement.
The Results
Now that our legal experts had permission, they started to file the paperwork for Mr. Gartner’s expungement. This is another lengthy process and requires utmost meticulousness, as even a single mistake can lead to the whole petition getting rejected!
But, that’s a warning for the amateurs to be honest! Our Pittsburgh criminal lawyers at the Logue Law Group have years of experience handling such cases and paperwork. We took care of the entire thing and eventually got Mr. Gartner’s case expunged.
So, now Mr. Gartner had no reason to worry. With the expungement, his reputation, as well as his goodwill, was saved!
