No Charges for Out-of-Town Resident Facing Speeding Citation
A few days ago, we at Logue Law Group got a call from a California-based client. He said he had gotten into trouble for overspeeding in Delaware County and requested help, as he didn’t want the charges to follow him to his hometown.
Upon hearing the case, our Pittsburgh criminal lawyers took the matter into their own hands. We knew that situations like this would bring unnecessary hassles and disruptions to our client, and therefore, decided to help him out.
What happened next? Well, follow the blog to find out!
An Overview of the Incident
Mr. Schneebly, a California-based school teacher, was visiting his in-laws in Delaware County with his wife. He was driving through Upper Chichester Township, and seeing that the roads were empty, hit the gas pedal a little too hard!
What he didn’t notice was that it was a construction zone! Very obviously, he was stopped by the cops, who claimed that he went 20 mph over the recommended speed limit and was therefore cited for speeding.
This meant that, along with fines, our client was also looking at points on his license. And since California is a member of the Driving Licenses Compact (DLC), this infraction was sure to get reported to his home state as well!
Naturally, Mr. Schneebly did not want to drag this on, and therefore, called up our Pittsburgh criminal lawyers to ask for a solution.
What Was the Outcome?
Usually, out-of-town residents are at risk of facing greater hassles in such situations. They may have to drive all the way down from their home state to appear in court.
So, our Pittsburgh criminal lawyers came up with a better plan. Rather than appealing for a dismissal, we argued that there was no clear sign indicating the construction zone, and therefore, requested to reduce the charges be reduced for our client.
And the plan worked! Upon cross-examining, the judge learned that there were no signboards placed to warn drivers about the active construction zone. So, technically, Mr. Schneebly was not at fault!
The prosecution, therefore, reduced the speeding charges to a zero-point non-moving violation. This meant that our client would not have to pay any fines and would also not receive any points on his license.
What’s even better is that the non-moving violation would not follow our client to his hometown. So, he was now free to walk away!
And that’s how our Pittsburgh criminal lawyers once again proved why they are one of the best in Pennsylvania! We didn’t just save a client from unnecessary hassles, but also ensured that he won’t be facing any issues in his hometown either!
That’s the standard we hold for ourselves at the Logue Law Group. We don’t just extract favorable outcomes. Rather, we ensure that you get a second chance to live your life worry-free!
