Diocese of Pittsburgh Clergy Abuse Records and Survivor Resources
This page gathers official Diocese of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania court, and state reporting resources related to clergy sexual abuse. It is a research starting point for survivors, families, journalists, and the public. It does not determine whether an allegation is true or whether a claim can be filed.
Diocese of Pittsburgh territory
The Diocese identifies its territory as Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Lawrence, and Washington counties in southwestern Pennsylvania. Records or events involving a particular parish, school, or clergy member may require separate verification.
Official diocesan disclosure and response pages
- Clergy against whom allegations have been made — the Diocese says this list covers allegations dating from 1935 to the present and distinguishes categories shown on the site.
- Allegations pending a canonical process — the Diocese describes these as allegations for which a final determination of credibility has not been made.
- Allegations not substantiated as child sexual abuse, but names appearing in the Grand Jury report — a separate diocesan category; it should not be described as a substantiated abuse finding.
- Living clergy removed from ministry and deceased clergy against whom allegations were made — the Diocese describes these as separate list categories.
- Diocesan abuse response and commitment and Information on abuse response — diocesan materials about its response, policies, and related publications.
Grand jury and court records
The Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System hosts the Fortieth Statewide Investigating Grand Jury page, including the public report and related materials. The Diocese also publishes its own response materials. A grand jury report, a diocesan disclosure list, a civil complaint, and a court judgment are different records with different purposes.
For individual Pennsylvania court cases, use the official UJS Case Search. The court portal notes that some information is limited or unavailable online; a search result is not a substitute for an official court record or legal advice.
Support and reporting
The Diocese’s Victim/Survivor Support page lists its victim assistance resources and church-related reporting line: 1-888-808-1235. The Diocese also lists its coordinator at 412-456-3093, extension 3712. These diocesan contacts do not replace public reporting or emergency help.
If a child may be in immediate danger, call 911. Pennsylvania ChildLine accepts reports of suspected child abuse 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 1-800-932-0313; see the Commonwealth’s official reporting guidance.

Diocesan materials describe the Diocese’s own records and categories; they are not independent fact-finding or court determinations. Allegations, pending processes, and criminal or civil findings must not be treated as interchangeable. This page is general educational information, not legal advice. Contacting the firm does not create an attorney-client relationship unless the firm agrees to one.
