Diocese of Erie Clergy Abuse Resources and Records
This page gathers official Diocese of Erie abuse-response materials, public records, and Pennsylvania reporting resources. The Diocese of Erie serves northwestern Pennsylvania. The links below point to source documents and agencies so readers can review the original material directly.
Diocese of Erie public disclosure list
The Diocese maintains a Public Disclosure List describing people whom the Diocese says were credibly accused of conduct that disqualifies them from working or volunteering with children in diocesan settings. The Diocese states that the list is not limited to sexual abuse and separately identifies some allegations as under investigation. It describes those individuals as presumed innocent unless and until shown otherwise. A listing or allegation is not the same as a criminal conviction or a court finding. Review the Diocese’s current categories and explanations on the original page; this guide does not reproduce names or allegations.
Reporting and survivor assistance
The Diocese’s Reporting Abuse page encourages people who experienced abuse or misconduct by clergy, employees, or volunteers to contact law enforcement. It lists the Diocese’s reporting line at 814-451-1543, an email for its independent investigators, and a victim assistance coordinator who can provide information about counseling support for survivors and families at 814-451-1521. These diocesan channels are separate from reporting to public authorities.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. Anyone may report suspected child abuse in Pennsylvania to ChildLine at 1-800-932-0313, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Diocese’s own page also directs readers to ChildLine for suspected abuse of a minor.
Public reports and court records
The 2018 Pennsylvania statewide grand jury report is available as a PDF hosted by the Diocese. It is a report by the grand jury; consult the report itself for its scope, evidence, and conclusions.
Pennsylvania’s Unified Judicial System provides public court case search for available docket information. A docket entry is a record of case activity, not necessarily a full account of the evidence or the final disposition. Court records may be incomplete, restricted, or difficult to match to a person, so confirm details with the court record before relying on them.
