Delaware County Child Sexual Abuse Lawyer | Survivor Rights

Survivors of childhood sexual abuse in Delaware County may have civil legal options involving the person who caused the harm and, depending on the facts and applicable law, an organization or institution that may have had a role in the abuse or its response. Each matter requires a careful, confidential review of the facts, available evidence, applicable deadlines, and potential defendants.

Experience representing survivors

Sean Logue has represented hundreds of survivors of abuse connected to the Boy Scouts of America and children abused in Pennsylvania detention centers. Every matter is different; prior representations do not predict the outcome of a new case.

Pennsylvania filing deadlines

As of November 5, 2026, Pennsylvania has not opened a retroactive lookback window for claims whose prior limitation period expired. Legislation proposing a temporary window has not been enacted. A proposed bill or constitutional amendment is not itself a filing deadline or a guarantee that a future window will open.

Pennsylvania law currently provides an extended period for certain civil actions arising from sexual abuse that occurred when the survivor was under 18: generally, 37 years after reaching age 18. A separate provision addresses certain claims involving abuse when an individual was at least 18 and under 24, subject to statutory definitions and conditions. The law, its applicability dates, tolling rules, government-defendant limitations, and other exceptions can affect a particular case. A lawyer should review the facts promptly rather than assume a deadline has or has not passed.

Delaware County court and filing information

The Delaware County Office of Judicial Support’s Civil Division handles civil cases and maintains related records. The office is at the Delaware County Government Center, Room 127, 201 West Front Street, Media, PA 19063; general telephone: 610-891-4370. The county provides civil e-filing information through its Office of Judicial Support. Court procedures and filing requirements can change, so verify current instructions with the court before filing.

Media is Delaware County’s county seat. Survivors and families throughout the county—including communities such as Chester, Upper Darby, Haverford, Radnor, and Springfield—can seek a confidential legal review. This list is illustrative and does not suggest that abuse occurred in any community or institution.

Evidence and possible institutional responsibility

Depending on the circumstances, useful records may include school, youth-program, employment, treatment, detention, church, or agency records; correspondence; photographs; contemporaneous notes; and the names of people who may have received a disclosure. Do not delay seeking advice while trying to collect every record. Preserve what is available and avoid contacting a potential defendant or suspected abuser before discussing safety, evidence preservation, and legal strategy with counsel.

Whether an organization can be held responsible depends on evidence and applicable law. This page makes no allegation about any named person, institution, or Delaware County organization.

Confidential case review

A conversation with a lawyer can help identify potential deadlines, legal options, records to preserve, and next steps. Contacting the firm does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship. Representation begins only after a conflict review and a written engagement agreement.
