Butler Crime Victim Advocacy Lawyer
After a crime in Butler or Butler County, you may receive notices from different agencies while also dealing with practical concerns at home or work. Logue Law Group can discuss private victim representation, review the papers you received, and identify the legal questions that need attention. An initial consultation includes a review of potential conflicts and the next scheduled event.
Start by identifying the case and the notice
Bring the case number, the names of the people involved, and the actual notice or request. Identify whether the matter is a criminal prosecution, a juvenile proceeding, a civil protective-order petition, or more than one of these. The same incident may produce separate proceedings with different dates and requirements.
Keep a simple record of who contacted you, when they contacted you, and what they requested. Preserve the original message or letter. A subpoena, a request for an interview, and a notification of a hearing should not be treated as interchangeable. Counsel can explain the actual document and discuss what response may be appropriate.
Butler County victim and witness assistance
The county’s Victim/Witness Program describes help with court information, victim rights, accompaniment, victim-impact statements, restitution issues, and compensation assistance. Ask the program which services are available for your situation. The prosecutor represents the Commonwealth; an advocate providing support is not automatically your private lawyer.
Private counsel can discuss your own legal interests within an agreed engagement. Before retaining counsel, ask what work is covered, how agency communications will be handled, and what fees apply. The firm must review conflicts involving other participants before accepting representation. A previous relationship with the firm or an initial inquiry does not establish representation for a new matter.
Notification questions and changes in case status
Butler County’s victim-notification page provides Pennsylvania Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification (PA SAVIN) information. Review the program’s instructions and ask what events it covers. Do not assume a notification service substitutes for tracking a hearing notice or confirming a date with the appropriate office.
If you change your contact information or have concerns about receiving messages safely, discuss the available options with the relevant program and counsel. Keep copies of requests you make and the responses you receive. Explain any missed notice and upcoming date promptly so counsel can review what steps remain available.
Protective-order proceedings follow a separate process
Butler County’s protection-order instructions identify the Domestic Relations Office on Level L of the Butler County Government Center as the place to appear for temporary PFA or PSVI requests. Check current intake instructions before traveling. Eligibility depends on the conduct and applicable legal requirements; not every situation calls for the same protection order.
Bring existing orders and notices. A temporary order does not complete the final-hearing process. Review the order’s terms, service requirements, and expiration date. Counsel can help review the requested relief without promising an order, compliance, or future safety. Call 911 for immediate danger.
Prepare for a consultation
Organize a chronology, relevant messages you lawfully possess, hearing papers, and records of losses or other effects of the incident. Do not alter originals, access another person’s account, or confront someone to gather information. Tell counsel what is confirmed, what remains uncertain, and what you need help understanding.
Call 412-387-6901 or request a consultation about private crime-victim representation in Butler County. Identify upcoming dates when arranging the appointment. Keep confidential evidence out of the initial public contact-form submission.
