New Castle Crime Victim Advocacy Lawyer
After a crime in New Castle or Lawrence County, you may need advice about a court notice, a request for an interview, financial losses, or property held as evidence. Logue Law Group can discuss private crime-victim representation and help identify which legal questions need attention. Start with the case number, the papers you received, and any upcoming dates. The firm reviews potential conflicts before accepting representation.
Choose the right source of assistance
The prosecutor handles the criminal prosecution for the Commonwealth. A victim advocate may help you understand services and navigate the process. A privately retained lawyer addresses your own legal interests within the agreed engagement. These roles are different, and retaining counsel does not give you control over charging or sentencing decisions.
The Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office publishes victim-rights information covering notices, support, input, and losses. Ask the relevant office which requests apply to your case and how to make them. Private representation through Logue Law Group is separate from assistance provided by that office or a community program.
Keep the case papers and requests together
Organize hearing notices, subpoenas, police incident information, and communications from agencies. Record who contacted you and what they requested. A hearing notice, an interview request, and a subpoena serve different purposes; bring the actual document to counsel rather than relying on a summary of it.
Explain whether the matter concerns an adult prosecution, a juvenile proceeding, a protective-order petition, or more than one case. Confirm dates and appearances with the issuing office. If your contact information changes or you have difficulty receiving notices, discuss that promptly with the relevant program and counsel.
Financial losses and property held as evidence
Preserve bills, receipts, repair estimates, and records showing losses connected to the incident. Note any payments by insurance or another source. Pennsylvania’s restitution guidance explains the role of loss documentation and the prosecutor’s office. Restitution and assistance through a compensation program have different requirements; neither should be treated as a guarantee of full repayment.
If law enforcement holds your property as evidence, keep the inventory or receipt and identify the agency holding it. The return of property may depend on whether it is still needed for the case and on the applicable procedure. Counsel can review the issue and discuss an appropriate request. Do not assume that ownership alone means an item can be released immediately.
Protective-order questions in Lawrence County
The county’s PFA Coordinator and Lawyer Referral office handles PFA processing and publishes filing information. Its listed location is the third floor of the Lawrence County Government Center, 430 Court Street, New Castle. Confirm current intake arrangements before visiting. This is a county office, separate from the firm.
The conduct and relationship determine which protection remedy may apply. Bring existing orders and notices, and review service, requested relief, and hearing preparation with counsel. A criminal complaint does not automatically resolve a civil protection petition. Call 911 for immediate danger. For more detail, read our New Castle PFA information for victims and victim-PFA questions.
Prepare for a private consultation
Bring a chronology, case papers, relevant messages you lawfully possess, and records of losses. Preserve originals and explain what you know firsthand. Do not access someone else’s accounts or confront another participant to gather evidence. Ask what work a proposed engagement covers, who will handle communications, and what fees apply.
Call 412-387-6901 or request a consultation about crime-victim representation in New Castle and Lawrence County. Identify the next scheduled event when arranging the appointment. Provide a brief description initially and arrange a suitable way to deliver confidential records after speaking with the firm.
