Facebook Social Media Addiction and Injury Claims
Facebook-related injury inquiries require a timeline that separates the account’s history from later symptoms and treatment. Logue Law Group reviews potential claims involving young people and Facebook without assuming that ordinary use or a distressing post establishes platform liability.
Identify the Account, Activity, and Time Period
A Facebook profile may have been used for years or on shared household devices. Record who used the account and when, rather than attributing every entry to one person. Describe whether the concern involves prolonged use, recommendations, communications, or another practice. An allegation about a platform’s design is legally different from a claim based on someone else’s post. Counsel must identify the actual theory and evaluate the applicable defenses.
Records to Discuss With Counsel
- Profile identifiers and approximate periods of active use.
- Existing posts, notifications, support correspondence, and account-download files that may be relevant.
- Any overlap with Instagram or other services, recorded separately.
- A chronology of observed changes, treatment, and school or daily-life effects.
Using the Platform’s Official Data Tools
Meta explains how its information-download controls can cover Facebook and Instagram together or separately. Choose the relevant account carefully and retain the original export. During the announced Meta Account rollout, menu names may differ. Do not clear activity or delete relevant records as part of preparing an export without discussing preservation with counsel. See the official data and account guidance.
Meta’s April 2026 announcement describes its transition from Accounts Center to Meta Account.
Allegations Are Not Findings of Liability
The October 24, 2024 federal school-district order describes compulsive-use allegations involving Facebook. That order addresses a different plaintiff group and does not prove an individual family’s claim.
Legal review must address the actual conduct alleged, the documented injury, and other potential causes. The existence of national litigation does not automatically include a particular user or guarantee compensation. Current case-specific orders and applicable state law must be checked.
Should I send the firm my Facebook password?
No. Keep passwords and authentication codes private. The firm can discuss lawful record collection and a secure method for receiving relevant files without asking you to place credentials in a public inquiry.
Health care remains the priority. Do not delay treatment or continue harmful exposure to build a claim. Our parent resource center provides a practical starting point.
