How the Roblox Federal MDL Process Works
The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation created MDL No. 3166 in December 2025 to coordinate specified federal lawsuits titled In re: Roblox Corporation Child Sexual Exploitation and Assault Litigation. The cases were centralized for pretrial proceedings in the Northern District of California.
What coordinated pretrial proceedings mean
When federal cases share factual questions, an MDL can assign pretrial work to one judge. The court may address common discovery, motions, and case-management issues. The JPML’s order says why the Panel found centralization appropriate; it does not decide the merits of individual claims.
What the process does not decide
An MDL is not a class action or settlement program. It does not guarantee that a person may join a case, that a claim will be successful, or that compensation will be available. Each case can raise different questions about the facts, defendants, applicable law, arbitration provisions, deadlines, causation, and defenses. The transfer order did not resolve those questions.
Staying current
MDL orders and schedules can change. The JPML’s MDL case-information page explains public access to case information; current federal court records should be checked for later orders. This page does not state a filing deadline, case count, settlement, or payment schedule.
